Efficient supply systems for global water distribution

Development of water distribution projects along the lines of supply chain management

World Water Management

Water is a global resource which is scarce. Climate change, water pollution, overuse and a growing world population are major water challenges. Furthermore water is currently not efficiently distributed - despite the global efforts of many organizations. For example, in the 2015 Global Risks Report, the World Economic Forum said thatan interdisciplinary approach should help to solve the problem. Every region must be concerned with ensuring a reliable supply of water as consumption increases twice as fast as population growth. The LOGISTIKUM plans to tackle this topic. Our main objective of the research field World Water Management is therefore to adapt and apply methods from the discipline of logistics in order to build up an efficient distribution network - in the sense of sustainability and resilience. Adapted methods of supply chain management are used to design the network for sustainable water distribution. Studies will increase the knowledge of how to ensure the distribution of water by means of planning, control, administration and control in the sense of a sustainable and globally joint action.

Thank you for your interest in this topic - the research field World Water Management and its team is still in the stage of planning.
